Hemp Seed Bread Recipe

Don't be boring! Your average white bread recipe will always produce well just ... average white bread. Settling for mediocre is just not my style, so I've baked many loaves to find a wonderful spiced white bread recipe with nutty undertones and a crisp flavor. Hulled Hemp Seed, Nutmeg and Ground Oats elevate your typical white bread into something spectacular.

• 2 1/2 Cups Bread Flour
• 1/2 Cup Ground Oats
• 1 Cup Warm Water
• 1 Egg (lightly beaten)
• 3 Tablespoons Unsalted Butter
• 3 Tablespoons White Sugar
• 2 Teaspoons Hulled Hemp Seeds
• 1 Teaspoon Nutmeg
• 3/4 Teaspoon Salt
• 1 Package Active Dry Yeast
• Pinch of Black Pepper

This spiced white bread is perfect for the bread machine! All you have to do is get your ingredients together, layer in the machine and let it do its business. Here's how to properly load the bread machine so that your hemp white bread comes out perfect:

1. Liquids go in first! To your bread machine, add the water, egg and softened butter.

2. Using a mortar and pestle, food processor or blender, process your oats, sugar, salt, pepper, hulled hemp seeds and nutmeg. The resulting mixture should be reminiscent of a fine powder. The hulled hemp seeds contain a decent amount of oil so the mixture may be slightly pasty; this is just fine. Once processed, add to the liquids in the bread machine.

3. Sift the flour onto the mixture and then finally top with the active dry yeast. Your bread is now layered correctly and ready to bake.

4. Turn bread machine to the Basic White setting and let run. You'll have bread as fast as your bread machine can make it! Enjoy!
